GAS STATION SUSHI, the movie...
Hello and welcome, just wanted to let yall know we're raising money to make a short film! This will be a another installment in the collaboration with our good friends at iLiCO Media, who shot our recent videos for "Winter Waltz" and "Midnight on the Ohio."
The film is a surrealistic representation of the origin story and allegorical nature of the song, Gas Station Sushi, and we’ll be heading into the hills of Kentucky in just a few weeks to start shooting. To afford to make the art we envision, we're starting up this crowdfunding campaign to cover multiple long work days, renting film gear, drone operation, post production and more. We're really excited about our vision for this film and really appreciate any and all support we can get in bringing it to life.
Here are some incentives we've cooked up for ya and we hope that you would consider contributing as little or as much as you're able. To donate to the film making process, follow the PayPal or Venmo links below. Every tier past $25 includes the previous tiers incentives as well!

Dearest friends, supporters, and gassers of Joe's Truck Stop, I'm beyond excited to announce the new album, Yonderings, due out this Spring! Scratch that, it's out now! Available on VINYL, CD, and wherever you download or stream music...
What critics are saying:
"From blistering bluegrass boot-stompers to crooning country waltzes, songwriter Joe Macheret displays the salt-of-the-earth acumen of a troubadour who’s crisscrossed the country in search of something that can only be sung. This is the music embedded in his bones, seeping to the surface through the speed of his fiddle and the meditative cadence of his six-string."
- Musiplug
"Yonderings is a master class in musicianship. Each layer stands artfully on its own, yet flawlessly blends together. The lyrics are crafted from the “write what you know” school of thought. Each story well lived-in like an autobiography set to brilliant music."
- The Amp
"Yonderings reflects a singular style spun from down-home celebration — earnest, engaging and rooted in actual folk tradition."
- Bluegrass Today
"Yonderings is a flawless example of the remarkable music being lovingly created day in and day out by incredibly talented artists that more people really should know about."
- Americana Highways
About the album: It was recorded in August 2021 by David Mayfield (David Mayfield Parade, Cadillac Sky), who drove down to Lebanon, Ohio to set up his mobile studio inside a 50 year old barn and record ten songs with us over three days. The band is comprised of some of my favorite people and musicians, including the core of last summer’s Truck Stop lineup, Andrew McPheters on banjo and June Youngblood on upright bass.
I wrote the songs on this album and co-wrote "Midnight on the Ohio" with my dear friend and songwriter, Joe Wunderle. The theme that roams through these songs is one of traveling, whether cross-country in a minivan, across the ocean seeking new beginnings, or from one plane of existence to another. This is how the album got its name.
The songs:
Preramble
Wishin’ on a Star
Winter Waltz
Midnight on the Ohio
Gas Station Sushi
Grease Fire
Still and Silence
Waltz for Lucille
Smilin’ at Nothin
Pappy Hondo
Thank You
